Almonty Industries Secures Strategic Offtake Agreement with South Korea's SeAH M&S, Targeting Renewable Supply Chains

Almonty Industries (TSX, ASX: AII), renowned for its global production of tungsten concentrates, has recently signed an exclusive offtake agreement with South Korea's largest molybdenum processor, SeAH M&S. This arrangement positions SeAH to procure all molybdenum output from Almonty's Sangdong project, anticipated to commence production by the end of 2026 with a mine life expectancy of 60 years. Once operating at full capacity, the mine is projected to yield approximately 5,600 tonnes of molybdenum per year.

The Sangdong project bears significant potential, aligning conveniently with Almonty's concurrent tungsten site, which historically once dominated global tungsten production. These two projects, situated in close proximity, are poised to benefit from shared resources, enhancing their collective operational efficiency and reducing overhead costs.

As SeAH takes on this substantial role, it does so while expanding its presence in global markets, currently investing $110 million into a new metals and fabrication facility in Temple, Texas, to supply Elon Musk's Space Exploration Technologies and the US defense sector.

The off-take agreement introduces a hard price floor of $19.00 per pound (before treatment charges), which Almonty underscores as a financial safeguard ensuring stable revenue streams as it nurtures its Sangdong project forward. Given the current molybdenum price hovering around $22.00 per pound, this arrangement offers critical economic predictability.

Almonty highlights the strategic impact of this agreement on the South Korean economy, which heavily relies on molybdenum imports. In 2023, South Korea's molybdenum imports were valued at $42.8 million, with China accounting for the majority share, valued at $21.9 million. By reinforcing domestic supply lines through its partnership with SeAH, Almonty aims to mitigate South Korea's dependency on foreign imports, bolstering local manufacturing sectors.

Reacting to this announcement, CEO Lewis Black conveyed his enthusiasm, noting that the collaboration reflects strong market confidence in Almonty's capability to deliver premium resources domestically. The news resonated positively with investors, propelling Almonty's share price to a new 52-week high, trading at C$1.25, marking a formidable 13.6% intraday gain and securing a market capitalization of C$331.8 million ($230 million).
