ArcelorMittal Plans Strategic Investment in Tubarão, Brazil

ArcelorMittal's Brazilian unit has unveiled significant investment plans totaling approximately 3.8 to 4 billion reais ($661-696 million) in its Tubarão division, located in Espirito Santo state. According to GMK Center, the investment will fund the construction of a new cold rolling mill and a coating line, considered key projects in the company's strategic development in Brazil, which includes a broader investment of R$25 billion from 2022 to 2028.

The new facilities aim to enhance ArcelorMittal's capacity in high value-added markets, such as automotive, home appliances, and construction, aligning production more closely with end-user needs. The initiative is expected to capitalize on increased demand and generate economic benefits, with the facilities slated to become operational in the first half of 2029 following engineering and contracting phases starting in 2026.
