Bacon and ham imports into Australia reduced slightly to 159 tons in August 2023, which is down by -3.9% compared with July 2023. In general, imports recorded a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when imports increased by 133% m-o-m.
In value terms, bacon and ham imports declined rapidly to $2.1M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2023. Overall, imports showed a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when imports increased by 120% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $4.3M. From December 2022 to August 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
