Australia Chocolate And Confectionery Imports
Chocolate and confectionery imports into Australia dropped to 11K tons in September 2023, falling by -14.4% on August 2023 figures. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when imports increased by 37% m-o-m.
In value terms, chocolate and confectionery imports declined to $66M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2023. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 with an increase of 29% against the previous month.

Singapore (1.4K tons), Malaysia (1.3K tons) and Indonesia (1.3K tons) were the main suppliers of chocolate and confectionery imports to Australia, together comprising 36% of total imports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($10,425 per ton), while the price for Ghana ($3,594 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
