Australia Non-Decaffeinated Roasted Coffee Import Price in November 2022
In November 2022, the non-decaffeinated roasted coffee price amounted to $17.2 per kg (CIF, Australia), increasing by 8.3% against the previous month. Over the last ten months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 47% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $18.4 per kg. From October 2022 to November 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2022, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($38.9 per kg), while the price for Jordan ($4.1 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Australia Non-Decaffeinated Roasted Coffee Imports
In November 2022, supplies from abroad of roasted coffee (not decaffeinated) increased by 17% to 1K tons for the first time since August 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. In general, imports saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 with an increase of 57% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 1.9K tons in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to November 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-decaffeinated roasted coffee imports soared to $18M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. Overall, imports posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 with an increase of 55% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 25K tons in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to November 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Australia Non-Decaffeinated Roasted Coffee Imports by Country
Italy (473 tons), Switzerland (248 tons) and Germany (111 tons) were the main suppliers of non-decaffeinated roasted coffee imports to Australia, together comprising 81% of total imports. France, the United States, Jordan and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 11%.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the biggest increases were in the United States (with a CAGR of +18.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Switzerland ($9.7M) constituted the largest supplier of non-decaffeinated roasted coffee to Australia, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($3.3M), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 12% share.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from Switzerland amounted to +7.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Italy (+10.5% per month) and Germany (+3.7% per month).
