Cost of Umbrellas in Australia Decreases by 11% to $4.5 per Unit

Australia Umbrella Import Price in May 2023

In May 2023, the umbrella price stood at $4.5 per unit (CIF, Australia), waning by -11.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 63% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $10,772 per thousand units. From October 2022 to May 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to -1.9% per month.

Australia Umbrella Import Prices by Type

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In May 2023, the product with the highest price was garden or similar umbrellas ($40.7 per unit), while the price for umbrellas having a telescopic shaft (excluding garden umbrellas) ($3.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by garden or similar umbrellas (+2.3%), while the prices for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of umbrellas and sun umbrellas (other than having a telescopic shaft or garden umbrellas) stood at +5.6%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: umbrellas having a telescopic shaft (excluding garden umbrellas) (-0.3% per month) and garden or similar umbrellas (-6.7% per month).
