BC Partners Navigates Challenging Fundraising Climate with New Multi-Billion Euro Fund

Private equity giant BC Partners is reportedly aiming to raise between EUR5 billion ($5.2 billion) and EUR6 billion for its latest flagship fund, BC Partners Fund XII, according to Bloomberg (Yahoo Finance, 2025). The London-based firm is preparing to begin fundraising efforts in the second quarter, with hopes of reaching a first close by year-end.

This ambitious move comes as the private equity sector faces a complex fundraising environment, with major investors shifting their focus towards larger asset managers or niche specialists to mitigate a slowdown in returns. BC Partners, however, is confident in its recent divestment successes, aiming to leverage its ability to monetize assets even during challenging times.

Last year, the firm declared a record return of EUR12 billion to limited partners and co-investors, stemming from strategic sales such as its majority stake in Synthon to Goldman Sachs Group's alternative investment division. These divestments have bolstered BC Partners' reputation as a specialist in defensive growth firms within the EUR1 billion to EUR2 billion range, offering substantial upside and exit potential.

Track Record and Governance

BC Partners' previous fund, BC Partners Fund XI, closed with EUR6.9 billion in capital commitments, yielding a net internal rate of return of around 16%. The firm's portfolio management strategies have seen the realization of nine equity investments since 2018, with an average of 2.7 times gross multiple on invested capital.
