Bloomingdale's to Close Iconic San Francisco Store by 2025

The iconic retail giant Bloomingdale's is set to vacate its sprawling store at the San Francisco Centre shopping mall in the near future. According to FOX Business, the Bloomingdale's location will remain operational until late spring 2025 before it closes its doors.

Spanning nearly 339,000 square feet, the Bloomingdale's store has been a mainstay near San Francisco's downtown Union Square for almost two decades. The departure marks another significant retail exit from the mall, joining other brands like Michael Kors, Adidas, American Eagle, and Nordstrom, which have all shuttered their operations in recent years.

While many retailers have left, the San Francisco Centre still hosts brands such as Aritzia, Bath & Body Works, Coach, and Rolex. The mall recently welcomed seven new leases, including five retail outlets and two offices, aiming to revitalize foot traffic and consumer engagement.

The decision comes amidst widening shifts in the retail landscape, initially reported by local media outlets. Business conditions, declining foot traffic, and evolving consumer preferences all contribute to the retail exodus, leaving public officials and mall management striving for revitalization strategies.
