Blue Lagoon Resources on Verge of Becoming Major Gold Producer in British Columbia

The company announced it has obtained the necessary mining and effluent/discharge permits from the relevant BC ministries, paving the way for full-scale underground mining operations at Dome Mountain. This advancement marks a pivotal moment for Blue Lagoon Resources, as noted in a press release where they highlighted their transition from an exploration-based firm to a near-term producer.

With production anticipated to commence as early as July, the Dome Mountain mine is expected to yield approximately 15,000 ounces of gold annually. CEO Rana Vig emphasized the rarity of a junior mining firm advancing from exploration to production, declaring this as a proud milestone for the company.

Chief Geologist Bill Cronk remarked on the uniqueness of obtaining a mining permit in BC, reinforcing the high calibre of the Dome Mountain gold project. To support mine operations, Blue Lagoon has entered a toll milling agreement with Nicola Mining, utilizing their facilities in Merritt, BC. Shares of Blue Lagoon Resources recently surged to a 52-week high upon this announcement, reflecting a market cap of C$30.2 million.

The project has a rich history of gold-silver-bearing veins, initially exploited between 1989 and 1992. Past operations yielded approximately 43,900 tonnes at an average grade of 12 grams per tonne of gold. Blue Lagoon acquired the project in 2020, furthering exploration activities and making substantial investments, cumulatively over $68 million by previous owners.

A resource estimate conducted in 2021 identified substantial gold and silver resources within the Boulder vein system, forming the basis for the company's production decision. Efforts are now concentrated on finalizing the installation of a water treatment facility, crucial to the forthcoming operations. Blue Lagoon plans to continue infill drilling to prolong mine life and potentially expand its resource base, with many identified veins still unexplored on this expansive 210-sq.-km property.
