Brazil Coffee Extract Export Price in February 2023
In February 2023, the coffee extract price amounted to $7,920 per ton (FOB, Brazil), shrinking by -3.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 12% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $8,778 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to February 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($11,152 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($5,853 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Brazil Coffee Extract Export Prices by Type
Average prices varied somewhat for the major types of exported product. In February 2023, the product with the highest price was coffee substitutes containing coffee ($8,266 per ton), while the average price for exports of preparations with a basis of extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee ($6,075 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: preparations with a basis of extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee (+4.4%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
Brazil Coffee Extract Exports
In February 2023, shipments abroad of coffee extracts, essences and concentrates decreased by -25.5% to 6.2K tons for the first time since November 2022, thus ending a two-month rising trend. In general, exports saw a mild decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 when exports increased by 28% month-to-month.
In value terms, coffee extract exports shrank markedly to $49M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 when exports increased by 28% m-o-m.
Brazil Coffee Extract Exports by Type
Extracts, essences and concentrates; of coffee, and preparations with a basis of these extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee (5.6K tons) was the largest type of coffee extract exported from Brazil, with a 91% share of total exports. Moreover, extracts, essences and concentrates; of coffee, and preparations with a basis of these extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee exceeded the volume of the second product type, preparations with a basis of extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee (572 tons), tenfold.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of extracts, essences and concentrates; of coffee, and preparations with a basis of these extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee totaled -2.1%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: preparations with a basis of extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee (+1.2% per month) and coffee substitutes containing coffee (+1.6% per month).
In value terms, extracts, essences and concentrates; of coffee, and preparations with a basis of these extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee ($45M) remains the largest type of coffee extract exported from Brazil, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by preparations with a basis of extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee ($3.5M), with a 7.1% share of total exports.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of extracts, essences and concentrates; of coffee, and preparations with a basis of these extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee was relatively modest. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: preparations with a basis of extracts, essences or concentrates or with a basis of coffee (+5.7% per month) and coffee substitutes containing coffee (+4.9% per month).
Brazil Coffee Extract Exports by Country
The United States (1.3K tons), Argentina (930 tons) and Finland (397 tons) were the main destinations of coffee extract exports from Brazil, together comprising 43% of total exports. Canada, Ecuador, Singapore, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Indonesia, Japan, Colombia and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the biggest increases were in Mexico (with a CAGR of +117.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($11M), Argentina ($5.9M) and Finland ($3.1M) constituted the largest markets for coffee extract exported from Brazil worldwide, together accounting for 41% of total exports. These countries were followed by Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Ecuador, Singapore, Colombia, Indonesia, Mexico, Japan and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 33%.
Mexico, with a CAGR of +114.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
