Brazil Tin Export Price in February 2023
In February 2023, the tin price amounted to $28,672 per ton (FOB, Brazil), increasing by 7.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $43,567 per ton in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to February 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In February 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($29,890 per ton) and Turkey ($29,862 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($27,254 per ton) and Portugal ($27,676 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (-1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Brazil Tin Exports
In February 2023, approximately 923 tons of tin were exported from Brazil; declining by -25.6% against January 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when exports increased by 92% m-o-m. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.4K tons. From October 2022 to February 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, tin exports reduced markedly to $26M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 when exports increased by 78% against the previous month.
Brazil Tin Exports by Country
Spain (234 tons), the United States (219 tons) and the Netherlands (198 tons) were the main destinations of tin exports from Brazil, together accounting for 71% of total exports. Italy, Argentina, the UK, Turkey and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the biggest increases were in Italy (with a CAGR of +10.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for tin exported from Brazil were Spain ($6.7M), the United States ($6.2M) and the Netherlands ($5.9M), with a combined 71% share of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Spain, with a CAGR of +6.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
