Brazil Turkey Meat Exports
In August 2023, overseas shipments of turkey meat decreased by -11.1% to 4.8K tons, falling for the second consecutive month after two months of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when exports increased by 102% m-o-m. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 8.8K tons. From July 2023 to August 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, turkey meat exports dropped markedly to $11M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2023. Overall, exports showed a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 with an increase of 190% against the previous month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $33M. From July 2023 to August 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country
South Africa (1K tons), Mexico (737 tons) and the Netherlands (679 tons) were the main destinations of turkey meat exports from Brazil, with a combined 51% share of total exports.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the biggest increases were in the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +31.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($3.1M), South Africa ($1.7M) and Mexico ($1.7M) were the largest markets for turkey meat exported from Brazil worldwide, with a combined 59% share of total exports.

Exports by Type
Frozen turkey cuts (4.3K tons) was the largest type of turkey meat exported from Brazil, with a 89% share of total exports. Moreover, frozen turkey cuts exceeded the volume of the second product type, frozen whole turkeys (517 tons), eightfold.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of frozen turkey cuts totaled -1.1%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: frozen whole turkeys (+30.6% per month) and fresh or chilled whole turkeys (+64.5% per month).
In value terms, frozen turkey cuts ($9.7M) remains the largest type of turkey meat exported from Brazil, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by frozen whole turkeys ($1.3M), with a 12% share of total exports.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of frozen turkey cuts amounted to -2.4%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: frozen whole turkeys (+32.9% per month) and fresh or chilled whole turkeys (+49.1% per month).
Export Prices by Country
In August 2023, the turkey meat price stood at $2,293 per ton (FOB, Brazil), with a decrease of -15.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 43% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,773 per ton. From July 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($5,396 per ton), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($462 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+22.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
