Bunge Misses Q4 Profit Expectations Amid Crop Glut Challenges

Corn, soybean, and wheat prices plunged to four-year lows in 2024 as stocks reached unprecedented levels, consequently squeezing agribusiness profits. Bunge, which relies heavily on its agribusiness operations for over 80% of its total revenue, saw a 43% drop in adjusted core earnings, from $639 million to $364 million year-over-year in Q4.

Moreover, Bunge's Refined and Specialty Oils segment experienced a significant 19.5% decrease in gross profits, falling to $275 million. Despite these challenges, the company projects adjusted earnings of $7.75 per share for 2025, though this is lower than the expected $8.71 per share estimated by analysts.

Similarly, Archer-Daniels-Midland, Bunge's competitor, narrowly missed profit expectations due to a slump in staple crop demand.
