Canada Plastic Furniture Fittings Import Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the plastic furniture fittings price stood at $11.8 per kg (CIF, Canada), picking up by 17% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +4.8%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $11.8 per kg in May 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($16.0 per kg), while the price for Spain ($2.0 per kg) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+30.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Canada Plastic Furniture Fittings Imports

In September 2022, after three months of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of plastic fittings for furniture, when their volume decreased by -5.4% to 937 tons. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% from January 2022 to September 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 20% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.2K tons. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastic furniture fittings imports totaled $11M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +6.0% from January 2022 to September 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 28% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $11M. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Canada Plastic Furniture Fittings Imports by Country

In September 2022, the United States (497 tons) constituted the largest supplier of plastic furniture fittings to Canada, with a 53% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic furniture fittings imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (153 tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Japan (62 tons), with a 6.6% share.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from the United States stood at +5.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: China (-1.2% per month) and Japan (+1.7% per month).

In value terms, the United States ($5.4M) constituted the largest supplier of plastic furniture fittings to Canada, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($2.1M), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 9% share.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from the United States amounted to +4.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: China (+7.0% per month) and Japan (+32.7% per month).
