Canada Thermostat Import Price in February 2023
In February 2023, the thermostat price amounted to $21.5 per unit (CIF, Canada), surging by 21% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated mild growth from February 2022 to February 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on February 2023 figures, thermostat import price decreased by -20.1% against December 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 39% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $26,958 per thousand units. From January 2023 to February 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($113 per unit), while the price for Hungary ($5.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Canada Thermostat Imports
For the third month in a row, Canada recorded decline in purchases abroad of thermostats, which decreased by -13.4% to 518K units in February 2023. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 when imports increased by 42% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 959K units. From September 2022 to February 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, thermostat imports rose notably to $11M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 with an increase of 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 16M units in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to February 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.
Canada Thermostat Imports by Country
China (205K units), Mexico (126K units) and the United States (43K units) were the main suppliers of thermostat imports to Canada, with a combined 72% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, Hungary, Israel, Vietnam and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 22%.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +2.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($3.3M), China ($2.3M) and Vietnam ($1.6M) constituted the largest thermostat suppliers to Canada, with a combined 64% share of total imports.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +9.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
