China Home Appliance Export Price in April 2023
In April 2023, the home appliance price stood at $28.9 per unit (FOB, China), with a decrease of -12.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 20% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $39,230 per thousand units. From March 2023 to April 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In April 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($51.6 per unit), while the average price for exports to Israel ($9.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Libya (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

China Home Appliance Export Prices by Type
Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was iron or steel gas domestic cooking appliances and plate warmers ($36.3 per unit), while the average price for exports of cooking appliances and plate warmers; for liquid fuel, of iron or steel ($8.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In April 2023, exports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances from China declined to 9.9M units, reducing by -7% against March 2023 figures. Overall, exports saw a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when exports increased by 118% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at 12M units in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to April 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances declined markedly to $285M (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. Over the period under review, exports saw a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 with an increase of 84% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at 453M units in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to April 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Iron or steel gas domestic cooking appliances and plate warmers (5.9M units), cooking appliances and plate warmers; for solid fuel and fuels other than gas or liquid, of iron or steel (3.4M units) and cooking appliances and plate warmers; for liquid fuel, of iron or steel (540K units) were the main products of exports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances from China.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the biggest increases were in cooking appliances and plate warmers; for liquid fuel, of iron or steel (with a CAGR of +0.1%), while shipments for the other products experienced a decline.
In value terms, iron or steel gas domestic cooking appliances and plate warmers ($215M) remains the largest type of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliance exported from China, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by cooking appliances and plate warmers; for solid fuel and fuels other than gas or liquid, of iron or steel ($63M), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by cooking appliances and plate warmers; for liquid fuel, of iron or steel, with a 1.6% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of iron or steel gas domestic cooking appliances and plate warmers stood at -4.0%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: cooking appliances and plate warmers; for solid fuel and fuels other than gas or liquid, of iron or steel (-3.2% per month) and cooking appliances and plate warmers; for liquid fuel, of iron or steel (+0.3% per month).
China Home Appliance Exports by Country
the United States (1.9M units) was the main destination for exports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances from China, accounting for a 20% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Africa (468K units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Philippines (453K units), with a 4.6% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume to the United States stood at -2.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: South Africa (+6.4% per month) and the Philippines (-1.7% per month).
In value terms, the United States ($100M) remains the key foreign market for domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliance exports from China, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($11M), with a 4% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 3.8% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to -4.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+4.3% per month) and Germany (-9.7% per month).
