Amid escalating tensions with U.S. businesses, China's antitrust regulator is set to investigate Apple's (AAPL) App Store policies and fees. Bloomberg News reported the impending probe, citing individuals familiar with the matter, suggesting a deepening scrutiny of tech giants in the region.

This news coincides with a broader set of measures China recently announced targeting several U.S. enterprises, including Google and Calvin Klein's parent company. The reports indicate that China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) is examining Apple's policy of charging up to 30% commission on in-app purchases, and its restrictions on external payment services. This move has already impacted Apple shares, which dropped by 2.6% in premarket trading in the U.S.

Discussions between Chinese regulators, Apple executives, and app developers have reportedly been ongoing since the previous year.
