IndexBox has just published a new report "World: Training Shoes - Market Report. Analysis and Forecast to 2025". Here is a summary of the report's key findings.
Global Training Shoes Consumption Showed Steady Growth
The global training shoes market showed steady growth, rising from X million pairs in 2007 to X million pairs in 2015. From 2007 to 2015, it expanded with a CAGR of +X%.
In the Medium Term, the Training Shoes Market Is Expected to Reach X Billion Pairs by the End of 2025
From 2007 to 2015, the global market experienced a consumption and production boom. However, in the forecast period growth in training shoes consumption is expected to slow to +X% (currently +X%) in the medium term, amid a softening demand across the globe. In the past, training shoes consumption was fueled by rising purchasing power among urban population in developing countries, but this engine of growth is now under pressure from the current economic slowdown.
In the medium term, per capita consumption of training shoes in developed countries, including the U.S., the EU, Japan and Canada, is stabilizing, driven by consumer preferences shifting towards more sophisticated goods.
China Is Set to Remain the Leading Global Producer of Training Shoes
Historically, China was the leading global manufacturer of training shoes. In 2015, X billion pairs or X% of the world's production were manufactured in this country. China was followed by Vietnam (X million pairs), Indonesia (X million pairs), Brazil (X million pairs) and Thailand (X million pairs).
From 2007 to 2015, China's production levels increased by +X% annually. However, the most remarkable growth rates in sports footwear manufacturing among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2015 were attained by Indonesia (+X% per year) and Brazil (+X% per year). In general, the balance of the countries showed positive dynamics. Especially high were the growth levels in India (+X%) and Turkey (+X%).
Approx. X% of Training Shoes Manufactured World-wide Is Sent for Export
Training shoes will continue to be a highly traded global commodity: global trade accounted for a X% share of total production in 2015. Training shoes will continue to be highly traded, fueled by increasing consumption and trade liberalization policies, as well as intense global and regional integration. However, annual growth could be restrained by the softening growth of training shoes manufacture, and increasing domestic consumption in some of the major exporting countries.
The U.S. and Germany Remain Key Importers of Training Shoes
The value of global imports totaled X billion USD in 2015. Imports dynamics were generally in line with exports: these trade flows globally complement each other. In 2015, the U.S. (X billion USD), Germany (X billion USD), the U.K. (X billion USD), France (X billion USD) and Belgium (X billion USD) were the leading destinations of training shoes imports, together making up X% of global imports in value terms.
Among the major importing countries th U.S. (+X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year) gained the highest annual growth rates from 2007 to 2015. While the share of the U.S. increased significantly from X% in 2007 to X% in 2015, the share of Germany illustrated moderate growth. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
Vietnam, Indonesia and China Remain the Main Global Suppliers of Training Shoes
In 2015, global exports of training shoes reached X billion USD, expanding at an average annual rate of growth of +X% from 2007 to 2015. The volume of global training shoes exports amounted to X million pairs in 2015, with an annual decrease of -X% over the period under review.
In terms of global training shoes exports, among all main exporting countries three largest suppliers stand out: Vietnam (X%), Indonesia (X%), Belgium (X%) and China (X%). Hovewer, from 2007 to 2015, average annual rates of growth of training shoes exports from these countries stood at: Belgium (+X%), Indonesia (+X%) and Vietnam (+X), while China training shoes exports dropping significantly (-X%).
The shares of Vietnam (+X percentage points), Belgium (+X percentage points) and Indonesia (+X percentage points) increased significantly. At the same time, the share of China reduced from X% in 2007 to X% in 2015. Therefore, this makes Vietnam, Indonesia and Belgium the largest and most reliable producers of training shoes in the world. China, however, remains a key producer and supplier of training shoes as well.
