China Plans Strategic Monetary Easing to Stimulate Economic Growth

China is gearing up to implement strategic reductions in interest rates and the reserve requirement ratio (RRR) in the coming year in a bid to inject more vigor into its economy. As reported by Bloomberg, the nation's central bank will intensify its monetary and credit supply efforts, according to Wang Xin, director of the research bureau under the People's Bank of China.

The current average RRR stands at 6.6%, but Wang indicated there is potential for further reductions, aiming to ease financing conditions significantly. The necessity for this step stems from a recent unexpected slowdown in credit expansion in November, which highlighted waning loan demand and posed additional challenges to China's economic trajectory.

Alongside monetary measures, China's leadership announced plans to introduce more robust fiscal stimuli. According to Han Wenxiu, a deputy director at the Office of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission, there will be an increase in the fiscal deficit ratio and the issuance of ultra-long-term special government bonds by 2025. Such measures are part of a broader objective to sustain an economic growth rate around 5%, aligning with official forecasts.

These economic strategies and fiscal policies will soon be elaborated upon during the annual plenary sessions of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, where more proactive and promising macro policies are expected to be introduced to secure future economic stability and growth.
