China Radio Receiver Exports
In April 2023, the amount of radio receivers exported from China reached 20M units, approximately reflecting the previous month's figure. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a mild increase from April 2022 to April 2023: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on April 2023 figures, exports increased by +172.9% against February 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when exports increased by 171% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 21M units in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to April 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, radio receiver exports shrank to $339M (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when exports increased by 129% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 400M units in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to April 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country
India (2.4M units), the United States (1.8M units) and Mexico (1.5M units) were the main destinations of radio receiver exports from China, together accounting for 28% of total exports. These countries were followed by Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, the Philippines, Japan, Pakistan, Russia, Malaysia, Germany and Mozambique, which together accounted for a further 27%.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +12.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for radio receiver exported from China were the United States ($49M), the Philippines ($34M) and Mexico ($19M), with a combined 30% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Brazil, India, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Germany, Japan, Russia, Kenya, Mozambique and Pakistan, which together accounted for a further 24%.
Russia, with a CAGR of +17.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports by Type
Radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus (8.6M units) was the largest type of radio receiver exported from China, accounting for a 42% share of total exports. Moreover, radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus exceeded the volume of the second product type, radio-broadcast receivers; operational without external power source, without sound recording or reproducing apparatus, including apparatus capable of receiving radio-telephony or radio-telegraphy (4.1M units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by radio (telephony, telegraphy, broadcast) broadcast receivers; apparatus (other than pocket-size radio cassette-players), combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus, not needing external power (3.5M units), with a 17% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus totaled +2.1%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: radio-broadcast receivers; operational without external power source, without sound recording or reproducing apparatus, including apparatus capable of receiving radio-telephony or radio-telegraphy (-0.2% per month) and radio (telephony, telegraphy, broadcast) broadcast receivers; apparatus (other than pocket-size radio cassette-players), combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus, not needing external power (+2.0% per month).
In value terms, radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus ($197M) remains the largest type of radio receiver exported from China, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by radio (telephony, telegraphy, broadcast) broadcast receivers; apparatus (other than pocket-size radio cassette-players), combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus, not needing external power ($39M), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; not combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus and not combined with a clock, with a 9.9% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus was relatively modest. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: radio (telephony, telegraphy, broadcast) broadcast receivers; apparatus (other than pocket-size radio cassette-players), combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus, not needing external power (+2.6% per month) and radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; not combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus and not combined with a clock (-0.5% per month).
Export Prices by Country
In April 2023, the radio receiver price stood at $16.6 per unit (FOB, China), waning by -5.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 17% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $20,828 per thousand units. From March 2023 to April 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($61.3 per unit), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($3.9 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
