China's Television Receiver Price Reaches $84.5 Per Unit

China Television Receiver Export Price in February 2023

In February 2023, the television receiver price stood at $84.5 per unit (FOB, China), picking up by 23% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $86.4 per unit in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to February 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($200 per unit), while the average price for exports to India ($27.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

China Television Receiver Export Prices by Type

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was reception apparatus for television, whether or not incorporating radio-broadcast receivers or sound or video recording or reproducing apparatus; incorporating a colour video display or screen ($138 per unit), while the average price for exports of tuner blocks totaled $17.6 per unit.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: reception apparatus for television, whether or not incorporating radio-broadcast receivers or sound or video recording or reproducing apparatus; incorporating a black and white or other monochrome video display or screen (+14.9%), while the prices for the other product experienced a decline.

China Television Receiver Exports

In February 2023, overseas shipments of television receivers decreased by -36.3% to 11M units, falling for the second consecutive month after two months of growth. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 16% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 19M units in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to February 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, television receiver exports reduced dramatically to $934M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 24% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 1.4B units in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to February 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

China Television Receiver Exports by Type

Reception apparatus for television, whether or not incorporating radio-broadcast receivers or sound or video recording or reproducing apparatus; incorporating a colour video display or screen (6.1M units) and tuner blocks (4.9M units) were the main products of television receiver exports from China.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the biggest increases were in reception apparatus for television, whether or not incorporating radio-broadcast receivers or sound or video recording or reproducing apparatus; incorporating a colour video display or screen (with a CAGR of +0.2%).

In value terms, reception apparatus for television, whether or not incorporating radio-broadcast receivers or sound or video recording or reproducing apparatus; incorporating a colour video display or screen ($847M) remains the largest type of television receiver exported from China, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by tuner blocks ($87M), with a 9.3% share of total exports.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of reception apparatus for television, whether or not incorporating radio-broadcast receivers or sound or video recording or reproducing apparatus; incorporating a colour video display or screen was relatively modest.

China Television Receiver Exports by Country

The United States (934K units), Indonesia (898K units) and India (811K units) were the main destinations of television receiver exports from China, together accounting for 24% of total exports.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +8.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for television receiver exported from China were the United States ($112M), Mexico ($96M) and Japan ($80M), together comprising 31% of total exports. These countries were followed by Russia, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Belarus, India, Nigeria, South Africa, Iraq and Colombia, which together accounted for a further 29%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +8.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
