Costco Food Court Switches from Pepsi to Coca-Cola

Costco has officially confirmed that starting this summer, its food courts will swap out Pepsi for Coca-Cola products, ending a decade-long run with the former. Fox Business reports that the switch was announced during Costco's annual shareholders meeting by CEO Ron Vachris. This decision has sparked excitement among many customers who are fond of Coke products.

According to data from the IndexBox platform, the move may influence consumer behavior positively, as Coca-Cola has a significant market share in the soft drinks sector, making it a favorable choice for many. The return to Coca-Cola products is part of a broader strategy to appeal to more traditional preferences within Costco's clientele.

This shift undoes the 2013 decision that saw Costco opting for Pepsi products as a cost-saving measure. Back then, the change was intended to support the company's effort to maintain its famously affordable $1.50 hot dog and soda combo. As of last year, CFO Gary Millerchip reassured that there are no imminent plans to increase the price of the combo, indicating that the beverage switch will not impact this staple offering.

While some Pepsi enthusiasts have expressed disappointment on social media, the overall reaction has been largely positive, with many shoppers eager to see Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Coke, and Sprite return to the food court menu.
