DeepFest 2025 Kicks Off in Riyadh, Highlighting AI Innovations and Investments

The world's premier artificial intelligence conference, DeepFest 2025, kicked off on Sunday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. According to Gulf Business, the event features more than 150 speakers and 120 exhibitors and is expected to attract over 50,000 participants from around the globe. The four-day conference is held at the Riyadh International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Malham, in conjunction with LEAP, Saudi Arabia's global tech event.

Organized by Tahaluf and powered by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), DeepFest 2025 was inaugurated by Dr. Esam Alwigait, director of the National Information Centre at SDAIA. Alwigait emphasized Saudi Arabia's position as a leader in AI by highlighting the country's 14th-place ranking in the 2024 Global AI Index and its rapid AI investments. As reported by the IndexBox platform, the Kingdom's AI strategy and governance rank top in the Gulf region, underscoring the nation's commitment to AI advancement.

The event aims to explore the intersection of AI ethics and innovation in fields such as healthcare, sports, urban development, and societal transformation. As part of the opening, Marc Raibert, founder of the AI Institute and chairperson of Boston Dynamics, showcased videos of his robotic creations performing advanced tasks, cautioning that despite their capabilities, robots still require significant human input for even basic operations.

Among the exhibitors, QSS Robotics presented automatic baristas and drones, while UBTech introduced Walker, a panda-like service robot. Michael Spranger, President of Sony AI, discussed the role of AI in enhancing creativity and diversity across Sony's entertainment sectors. He also highlighted Gran Turismo Sophy, an advanced AI racing driver, as an example of using AI to elevate the gaming experience.

Annabelle Mander, EVP at Tahaluf, noted the event's crucial role in Saudi Arabia's AI roadmap. With LEAP 2025 unveiling $14.9 billion in AI investments from both domestic and international firms, DeepFest 2025 serves as a pivotal platform for global leaders to harness AI's transformative potential.
