Ferrexpo Shares Plummet Amid Legal Challenges in Ukraine

Ferrexpo PLC, a major iron ore producer based in Switzerland, experienced a dramatic plunge in its stock value on the London exchange, with shares dropping as much as 51% on Tuesday. The decline followed the company's disclosure of a substantial civil claim amounting to 157 billion Ukrainian hryvnias ($3.8 billion) against its Ukrainian subsidiary, Ferrexpo Poltava Mining. The lawsuit alleges illegal mining and sale of subsoil, allegedly resulting in environmental harm. Before the 2022 Russian invasion, Ferrexpo was one of the world's largest iron ore pellet exporters.
