The countries with the highest volumes of consumption in 2024 were China (14M units), India (13M units) and Italy (7.2M units), together accounting for 29% of global consumption.
From 2013 to 2024, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +30.5%), while consumption for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($3.3B), Italy ($2.9B) and Japan ($2.7B) were the countries with the highest levels of market value in 2024, together comprising 41% of the global market.
In terms of the main consuming countries, Italy, with a CAGR of +24.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to market size over the period under review, while market for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, fire extinguisher production declined slightly to $24.1B in 2024 estimated in export price. In general, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 27%. Global production peaked at $25.5B in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2024, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Production By Country
China (44M units) constituted the country with the largest volume of fire extinguisher production, accounting for 35% of total volume. Moreover, fire extinguisher production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Mexico (15M units), threefold. India (11M units) ranked third in terms of total production with an 8.8% share.
From 2013 to 2024, the average annual growth rate of volume in China was relatively modest. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Mexico (+3.1% per year) and India (+4.0% per year).
Imports
World Imports of Fire Extinguishers
In 2024, purchases abroad of fire extinguishers increased by 11% to 41M units, rising for the fourth consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, total imports indicated strong growth from 2013 to 2024: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, imports increased by +50.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 18%. Global imports peaked in 2024 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, fire extinguisher imports reached $1.8B in 2024. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2013 to 2024; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 with an increase of 13%. Global imports peaked in 2024 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Imports By Country
In 2024, Vietnam (3.9M units) and South Korea (3.8M units) were the largest importers of fire extinguishersacross the globe, together amounting to near 19% of total imports. India (2.1M units) held a 5.1% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the United Arab Emirates (5%). The following importers - Mexico (1.8M units), Canada (1.6M units), the UK (1.6M units), Saudi Arabia (1.4M units), Japan (1.2M units) and the United States (1.2M units) - together made up 22% of total imports.

In value terms, the United States ($226M), the UK ($127M) and Canada ($70M) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2024, with a combined 23% share of global imports. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Mexico, Japan, South Korea and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +7.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices By Country
The average fire extinguisher import price stood at $44 per unit in 2024, dropping by -7.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2023 an increase of 1.2%. Global import price peaked at $61 per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2024, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($193 per unit), while India ($6.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In general, exports continue to indicate a noticeable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 173% against the previous year. The global exports peaked in 2024 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, fire extinguisher exports fell to $1.8B in 2024. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the period from 2013 to 2024; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 17%. The global exports peaked at $1.9B in 2023, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports By Country
In 2024, China (30M units) represented the main exporter of fire extinguishers, committing 61% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Mexico (12M units), creating a 24% share of total exports. Poland (1.3M units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of fire extinguishers. At the same time, Poland (+24.1%) and Mexico (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +24.1% from 2013-2024. In China, fire extinguisher exports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2013-2024. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mexico (+5.2% per year) and Poland (-0.2% per year).
Export Prices By Country
In 2024, the average fire extinguisher export price amounted to $36 per unit, dropping by -26.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 455%. The global export price peaked at $227 per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2024, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($48 per unit), while Mexico ($15 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
