Fleet Space Technologies Secures Moon to Mars Grant

Fleet Space Technologies, an innovative space exploration company based in Australia, has recently been awarded a prestigious Moon to Mars supply chain grant by the Australian Government. The announcement was made on February 5, 2025, according to a report by Mining.com. This grant is set to bolster Fleet Space's efforts in developing advanced gravity sensing technologies aimed at enhancing resource exploration on extraterrestrial surfaces such as the Moon and Mars.

With the financial backing, Fleet Space will focus on creating off-world MEMS gravity sensors designed to facilitate scalable gravity field mapping across planetary terrains. This innovation is crucial for accurately evaluating the density of subsurface geological formations and their composition. The company plans to apply this technology in future lunar and Martian missions, enabling more efficient assessment of subsurface structures and optimal landing site selection. Such advancements are expected to enhance rover navigation, infrastructure planning, and resource estimation potential.

Fleet Space's commitment to space exploration is further exemplified by its last year's achievement of deploying the Centauri-6 satellite aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9, launched from Kennedy Space Center. Looking ahead, the company's seismic technology, SPIDER, is scheduled to be employed on the Moon during Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost mission in 2026. This initiative aims to search for water ice deposits and provide local 3D mapping of the lunar subsurface.

The company's terrestrial mineral exploration platform, ExoSphere, which associated with industry giants such as Rio Tinto and Barrick, serves as a foundation for developing these next-generation technologies. Matt Pearson, chief exploration officer, emphasized the importance of deploying agile, highly scalable exploration technologies to maximize returns on space missions. "By leveraging ExoSphere as a blueprint, we have created a model for a hyper-scalable, off-world exploration system designed to operate at the planetary level," Pearson stated.
