France Lemon And Lime Import Price in February 2023
In February 2023, the lemon and lime price amounted to $1,304 per ton (CIF, France), dropping by -3.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 when the average import price increased by 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,515 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to February 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,807 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,138 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

France Lemon And Lime Imports
In February 2023, supplies from abroad of lemons and limes decreased by -12.5% to 12K tons, falling for the second month in a row after three months of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 with an increase of 26% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 19K tons. From January 2023 to February 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, lemon and lime imports declined sharply to $16M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 with an increase of 17% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of $26M. From September 2022 to February 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
France Lemon And Lime Imports by Country
In February 2023, Spain (8.4K tons) constituted the largest supplier of lemon and lime to France, with a 70% share of total imports. Moreover, lemon and lime imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (1.4K tons), sixfold. Germany (857 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.1% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Spain totaled -2.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-0.0% per month) and Germany (+17.0% per month).
In value terms, Spain ($10M) constituted the largest supplier of lemon and lime to France, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($2M), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 9.9% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value from Spain totaled -1.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-1.6% per month) and Germany (+18.4% per month).
