France Linseed Oil Import Price in December 2022
In December 2022, the linseed oil price amounted to $1,907 per ton (CIF, France), falling by -6.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 an increase of 40% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,734 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to December 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,944 per ton), while the price for Belgium totaled $1,875 per ton.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+1.9%).
France Linseed Oil Import Prices by Type
Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was vegetable oils; linseed oil and its fractions, other than crude, whether or not refined, but not chemically modified ($3,228 per ton), while the price for vegetable oils; linseed oil and its fractions, crude, not chemically modified totaled $1,880 per ton.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by vegetable oils; linseed oil and its fractions, crude, not chemically modified (+1.7%).
France Linseed Oil Imports
In December 2022, the amount of linseed oil imported into France declined significantly to 386 tons, falling by -21.9% against the previous month's figure. Overall, imports showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 72% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1K tons. From April 2022 to December 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, linseed oil imports contracted dramatically to $737K (IndexBox estimates) in December 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced downturn. It was followed by vegetable oils; linseed oil and its fractions, other than crude, whether or not refined, but not chemically modified (7.7 tons), with a 2% share of total imports.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of vegetable oils; linseed oil and its fractions, crude, not chemically modified totaled -3.8%.
In value terms, vegetable oils; linseed oil and its fractions, crude, not chemically modified ($712K) constituted the largest type of linseed oil supplied to France, comprising 97% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by vegetable oils; linseed oil and its fractions, other than crude, whether or not refined, but not chemically modified ($25K), with a 3.4% share of total imports.

In December 2022, Belgium (354 tons) was the main linseed oil supplier to France, with a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, linseed oil imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (30 tons), more than tenfold.
