France Malt Extract And Food Preparations Of Flour, Meal, And Starch Export Price in November 2022

In November 2022, the malt extract and food preparations of flour, meal, and starch price stood at $2,659 per ton (FOB, France), picking up by 3.1% against the previous month. Over the last ten months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 when the average export price increased by 12% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,666 per ton in June 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to November 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($4,318 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($1,638 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2022, the amount of malt extract and food preparations of flour, meal, and starches exported from France expanded remarkably to 21K tons, with an increase of 9% against the month before. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 17% against the previous month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 23K tons. From April 2022 to November 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of malt extract and food preparations of flour, meal, and starches expanded rapidly to $55M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4% over the period from January 2022 to November 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain months. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 18% m-o-m. The exports peaked in November 2022.

Spain (3.5K tons), the UK (3.2K tons) and Belgium (2.4K tons) were the main destinations of exports of malt extract and food preparations of flour, meal, and starches from France, with a combined 44% share of total exports. Italy, China, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Iran, Poland, Portugal and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the biggest increases were in China (with a CAGR of +30.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for malt extract and food preparations of flour, meal, and starch exported from France were Spain ($8.2M), the UK ($6.8M) and China ($5.1M), with a combined 37% share of total exports.

China, with a CAGR of +27.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
