France's Radio Receiver Price Soars 23% to New Record of $52.0 per Unit

France Radio Receiver Import Price in March 2023

In March 2023, the radio receiver price amounted to $52.0 per unit (CIF, France), picking up by 23% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a temperate expansion from March 2022 to March 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2023 figures, radio receiver import price increased by +22.9% against February 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 31% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in March 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($252 per unit), while the price for the Czech Republic ($11.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+21.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

France Radio Receiver Import Prices by Type

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was radio receivers for motor vehicles ($219 per unit), while the price for radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; not combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus but combined with a clock ($11.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

France Radio Receiver Imports

In March 2023, overseas purchases of radio receivers decreased by -13.3% to 303K units, falling for the fourth month in a row after two months of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 when imports increased by 62% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of 586K units. From July 2022 to March 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, radio receiver imports expanded significantly to $16M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. Overall, total imports indicated a tangible increase from March 2022 to March 2023: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2023 figures, imports decreased by -24.6% against December 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 with an increase of 26% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $21M. From January 2023 to March 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Radio-broadcast receivers (100K units), radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; not combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus but combined with a clock (91K units) and radio-broadcast receivers; operational without external power source, without sound recording or reproducing apparatus, including apparatus capable of receiving radio-telephony or radio-telegraphy (49K units) were the main products of radio receiver imports to France, together comprising 79% of total imports. These products were followed by radio (telephony, telegraphy, broadcast) broadcast receivers; apparatus (other than pocket-size radio cassette-players), combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus, not needing external power, radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus, radio receivers for motor vehicles, radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; not combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus and not combined with a clock and radio (telephony, telegraphy, broadcast) broadcast receivers; pocket-size radio cassette-players, operational without external power source, combined or not with sound recording or reproducing apparatus, which together accounted for a further 21%.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the major product types, was attained by vehicle radio (with a CAGR of +2.4%), while imports for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, radio-broadcast receivers ($8M) constituted the largest type of radio receiver supplied to France, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by radio-broadcast receivers n.e.c. in heading no. 8527; combined with sound recording or reproducing apparatus ($2.8M), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by radio receivers for motor vehicles, with a 10% share.

France Radio Receiver Imports by Country

China (123K units), the Czech Republic (66K units) and the Netherlands (29K units) were the main suppliers of radio receiver imports to France, with a combined 72% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Spain and Germany, which together accounted for a further 24%.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the biggest increases were in Spain (with a CAGR of +12.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Spain ($5.9M) constituted the largest supplier of radio receiver to France, comprising 37% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($2.6M), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 13% share.
