France Unvulcanized Rubber Export Price in February 2023
In February 2023, the unvulcanized rubber price amounted to $5,454 per ton (FOB, France), growing by 2.6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,580 per ton. From January 2023 to February 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($10,778 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($2,297 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

France Unvulcanized Rubber Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In February 2023, the product with the highest price was rubber ($19,828 per ton), while the average price for exports of compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip ($4,247 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: rubber; unvulcanised, other than "camel back" strips for retreading rubber tyres (+2.6%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
France Unvulcanized Rubber Exports
In February 2023, exports of unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof from France reduced to 12K tons, which is down by -5.1% against the month before. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when exports increased by 71% m-o-m.
In value terms, unvulcanized rubber exports shrank to $64M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2% over the period from February 2022 to February 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 with an increase of 62% against the previous month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $66M, and then dropped in the following month.
France Unvulcanized Rubber Exports by Type
Compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip (9.9K tons) was the largest type of unvulcanized rubber exported from France, accounting for a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip exceeded the volume of the second product type, plates, sheets, strip, rods and profile shapes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber (1.6K tons), sixfold. Rubber (152 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 1.3% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip totaled -1.0%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: plates, sheets, strip, rods and profile shapes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber (+0.0% per month) and rubber (-2.6% per month).
In value terms, compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip ($42M) remains the largest type of unvulcanized rubber exported from France, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by plates, sheets, strip, rods and profile shapes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber ($19M), with a 29% share of total exports. It was followed by rubber, with a 4.7% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip totaled +1.1%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: plates, sheets, strip, rods and profile shapes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber (+1.7% per month) and rubber (-0.0% per month).
France Unvulcanized Rubber Exports by Country
Spain (2.3K tons), Germany (2.3K tons) and Poland (1.8K tons) were the main destinations of unvulcanized rubber exports from France, with a combined 54% share of total exports. Italy, Romania, Luxembourg, the United States, Turkey, the UK, Belgium, Serbia and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Luxembourg (with a CAGR of +5.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($12M), Spain ($10M) and Poland ($7.9M) appeared to be the largest markets for unvulcanized rubber exported from France worldwide, with a combined 47% share of total exports. Italy, Romania, Luxembourg, the UK, Belgium, the United States, Turkey, Hungary and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Serbia, with a CAGR of +4.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
