Germany's Aluminum Tubing Price Increases by 4% to $13.2/kg

Germany Aluminium Tube Export Price in May 2023

In May 2023, the aluminium tube price amounted to $13,217 per ton (FOB, Germany), rising by 3.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 18% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $13,832 per ton. From January 2023 to May 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($21,746 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($10,374 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Germany Aluminium Tube Export Prices by Type

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In May 2023, the product with the highest price was aluminium tube or pipe fittings ($35,420 per ton), while the average price for exports of aluminium; tubes and pipes amounted to $10,648 per ton.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: aluminium pipe fittings (+2.1%).

Germany Aluminium Tube Exports

In May 2023, aluminium tube exports from Germany expanded to 2.6K tons, picking up by 2.3% on the previous month. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 with an increase of 41% month-to-month.

In value terms, aluminium tube exports expanded notably to $34M (IndexBox estimates) in May 2023. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 with an increase of 34% against the previous month.

Germany Aluminium Tube Exports by Type

Aluminium; tubes and pipes (2.3K tons) was the largest type of aluminium tube exported from Germany, accounting for a 90% share of total exports. Moreover, aluminium; tubes and pipes exceeded the volume of the second product type, aluminium tube or pipe fittings (269 tons), ninefold.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of aluminium; tubes and pipes was relatively modest.

In value terms, aluminium; tubes and pipes ($25M) remains the largest type of aluminium tube exported from Germany, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by aluminium tube or pipe fittings ($9.5M), with a 28% share of total exports.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of aluminium; tubes and pipes was relatively modest.

Germany Aluminium Tube Exports by Country

The Czech Republic (353 tons), the Netherlands (256 tons) and the United States (204 tons) were the main destinations of aluminium tube exports from Germany, together comprising 31% of total exports. Turkey, France, Austria, Poland, the UK, Slovakia, Italy, Romania, Hungary and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 49%.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the biggest increases were in the UK (with a CAGR of +4.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($4.4M), the Czech Republic ($3.7M) and the Netherlands ($3M) constituted the largest markets for aluminium tube exported from Germany worldwide, together accounting for 33% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +4.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
