German Domestic Non-Electric Cooking & Heating Appliance Price Falls to $40.9 per Unit

Germany Domestic, Non-Electric, Cooking Or Heating Appliance Import Price in January 2023

In January 2023, the domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliance price stood at $40.9 per unit (CIF, Germany), reducing by -31.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 55% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $109 per unit in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to January 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($187 per unit), while the price for Turkey ($19.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Germany Domestic, Non-Electric, Cooking Or Heating Appliance Import Prices by Type

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In January 2023, the product with the highest price was iron or steel gas domestic cooking appliances and plate warmers ($47.5 per unit), while the price for cooking appliances and plate warmers; for solid fuel and fuels other than gas or liquid, of iron or steel ($24.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by copper; table, kitchen or other household articles and parts thereof, pot scourers and scouring or polishing pads, gloves and the like (0.0%), while the prices for the other products experienced a decline.

In January 2023, overseas purchases of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances increased by 52% to 640K units, rising for the third consecutive month after six months of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible decrease. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at 1.1M units in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to January 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances stood at $26M (IndexBox estimates) in January 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 16% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of $82M. From April 2022 to January 2023, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

Germany Domestic, Non-Electric, Cooking Or Heating Appliance Imports by Type

In January 2023, iron or steel gas domestic cooking appliances and plate warmers (423K units) constituted the largest type of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliance supplied to Germany, with a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, iron or steel gas domestic cooking appliances and plate warmers exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, cooking appliances and plate warmers; for solid fuel and fuels other than gas or liquid, of iron or steel (188K units), twofold.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of iron or steel gas domestic cooking appliances and plate warmers was relatively modest. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: cooking appliances and plate warmers; for solid fuel and fuels other than gas or liquid, of iron or steel (-6.6% per month) and cooking appliances and plate warmers; for liquid fuel, of iron or steel (+3.4% per month).

In value terms, iron or steel gas domestic cooking appliances and plate warmers ($20M) constituted the largest type of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliance supplied to Germany, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by cooking appliances and plate warmers; for solid fuel and fuels other than gas or liquid, of iron or steel ($4.7M), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by cooking appliances and plate warmers; for liquid fuel, of iron or steel, with a 3.3% share.

Germany Domestic, Non-Electric, Cooking Or Heating Appliance Imports by Country

In January 2023, China (507K units) constituted the largest domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliance supplier to Germany, accounting for a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (40K units), more than tenfold. the Netherlands (33K units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.2% share.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at -1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Turkey (+20.3% per month) and the Netherlands (-11.7% per month).

In value terms, China ($12M), the Netherlands ($6.2M) and Turkey ($782K) appeared to be the largest domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliance suppliers to Germany, with a combined 73% share of total imports.

Turkey, with a CAGR of +1.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
