Raspberry and Blackberry Prices in Germany Experience Significant Drop to $7,246 per Ton

Germany Raspberry and Blackberry Import Price in November 2022

In November 2022, the raspberry and blackberry price amounted to $7,246 per ton (CIF, Germany), reducing by -7.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 29% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $10,371 per ton in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to November 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2022, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($12,806 per ton), while the price for Italy ($2,787 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Germany Raspberry and Blackberry Imports

In November 2022, raspberry and blackberry imports into Germany shrank to 3.2K tons, dropping by -14.9% against the month before. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when imports increased by 59% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of 4.8K tons. From June 2022 to November 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, raspberry and blackberry imports shrank markedly to $23M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. In general, imports recorded a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when imports increased by 70% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 41K tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to November 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Germany Raspberry and Blackberry Imports by Country

The Netherlands (1.4K tons), Spain (1.2K tons) and Poland (149 tons) were the main suppliers of raspberry and blackberry imports to Germany, together accounting for 88% of total imports. These countries were followed by Serbia, Portugal, Mexico and Italy, which together accounted for a further 8.3%.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Serbia (with a CAGR of +207.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($9.9M), Spain ($9.5M) and Poland ($981K) appeared to be the largest raspberry and blackberry suppliers to Germany, with a combined 88% share of total imports. Portugal, Mexico, Serbia and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 9.4%.

Serbia, with a CAGR of +124.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
