Germany Technical Textiles Export Price in March 2023

In March 2023, the technical textiles price stood at $32,967 per ton (FOB, Germany), picking up by 8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 an increase of 15% against the previous month. The export price peaked in March 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($74,341 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($15,510 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Germany Technical Textiles Export Prices by Type

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In March 2023, the product with the highest price was textiles; transmission or conveyor belts or belting, of textile material, whether or not reinforced with metal or other material ($78,590 per ton), while the average price for exports of textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing ($17,205 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: textile tubing (+1.6%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.

Germany Technical Textiles Exports

In March 2023, approximately 3.5K tons of textile products and articles for technical uses were exported from Germany; increasing by 4% on the month before. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when exports increased by 28% month-to-month.

In value terms, technical textiles exports rose rapidly to $114M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 with an increase of 24% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in March 2023.

Germany Technical Textiles Exports by Type

Textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter (3K tons) was the largest type of technical textiles exported from Germany, with a 87% share of total exports. Moreover, textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter exceeded the volume of the second product type, textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing (236 tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by textiles; transmission or conveyor belts or belting, of textile material, whether or not reinforced with metal or other material (182 tons), with a 5.3% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter was relatively modest. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing (+0.8% per month) and textiles; transmission or conveyor belts or belting, of textile material, whether or not reinforced with metal or other material (+1.8% per month).

In value terms, textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter ($94M) remains the largest type of technical textiles exported from Germany, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by textiles; transmission or conveyor belts or belting, of textile material, whether or not reinforced with metal or other material ($14M), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing, with a 3.6% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of textile products and articles for technical uses; specified in note 7 to this chapter was relatively modest. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: textiles; transmission or conveyor belts or belting, of textile material, whether or not reinforced with metal or other material (+1.8% per month) and textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing (+2.4% per month).

Germany Technical Textiles Exports by Country

The United States (393 tons), Italy (286 tons) and France (256 tons) were the main destinations of technical textiles exports from Germany, with a combined 27% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Poland, Romania, Slovakia, China, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK, Austria, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, which together accounted for a further 42%.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the biggest increases were in Romania (with a CAGR of +9.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for technical textiles exported from Germany were the United States ($12M), China ($11M) and Italy ($8.1M), with a combined 27% share of total exports. France, Poland, Switzerland, the UK, the Netherlands, Austria, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Romania, with a CAGR of +5.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
