Germany Vitamin Import Price in December 2022
In December 2022, the vitamin price amounted to $12.6 per kg (CIF, Germany), shrinking by -5.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 29% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $15.9 per kg. From September 2022 to December 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($42.6 per kg), while the price for China ($9.5 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Germany Vitamin Import Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In December 2022, the product with the highest price was vitamins; vitamin b12 and its derivatives, unmixed ($96.7 per kg), while the price for vitamins; vitamin c and its derivatives, unmixed ($3.8 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by vitamins; vitamin b12 and its derivatives, unmixed (+9.3%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
Germany Vitamin Imports
Vitamin imports into Germany skyrocketed to 4.9K tons in December 2022, rising by 19% compared with the previous month. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 when imports increased by 41% m-o-m. Imports peaked at 8.4K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to December 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, vitamin imports expanded rapidly to $62M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2022 with an increase of 41% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 91K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to December 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Germany Vitamin Imports by Type
Vitamins; vitamin e and its derivatives, unmixed (2.1K tons), vitamins; vitamin c and its derivatives, unmixed (1.5K tons) and vitamins; n.e.s. in item no. 2936.2, and their derivatives, unmixed (606 tons) were the main products of vitamin imports to Germany, with a combined 86% share of total imports. These products were followed by vitamins; vitamins a and their derivatives, unmixed, vitamins; n.e.s. in heading no. 2936, including natural concentrates, vitamins; vitamin b2 and its derivatives, unmixed, vitamins; d- or DL-pantothenic acid (vitamin b3 or vitamin b5) and its derivatives, unmixed, vitamins; vitamin b6 and its derivatives, unmixed, vitamins; vitamin b1 and its derivatives, unmixed and vitamins; vitamin b12 and its derivatives, unmixed, which together accounted for a further 14%.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the biggest increases were in vitamins; vitamins a and their derivatives, unmixed (with a CAGR of +4.8%), while purchases for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, vitamins; vitamin e and its derivatives, unmixed ($25M) constituted the largest type of vitamin supplied to Germany, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by vitamins; vitamins a and their derivatives, unmixed ($11M), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by vitamins; n.e.s. in item no. 2936.2, and their derivatives, unmixed, with a 17% share.
Germany Vitamin Imports by Country
In December 2022, China (3.1K tons) constituted the largest supplier of vitamin to Germany, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, vitamin imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (762 tons), fourfold. Switzerland (555 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+1.0% per month) and Switzerland (+0.7% per month).
In value terms, China ($29M) constituted the largest supplier of vitamin to Germany, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Switzerland ($10M), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 13% share.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Switzerland (+1.6% per month) and the Netherlands (-0.7% per month).
