Bloomberg reports that Pennsylvania-based Hamilton Lane, which oversees nearly $950 billion, has been granted a license by the Dubai Financial Services Authority. The company's CFO, Jeffrey Armbrister, will be one of the senior managers operating out of the Dubai unit.

The trend is not limited to Western firms; Asian hedge funds are also eyeing expansion opportunities in Dubai. Welwing Capital obtained a license last week, while tech-focused Jetha Global is transitioning its operations from Hong Kong, aiming for completion by March. This move is indicative of a broader shift, as major industry players like Millennium Management and Balyasny Asset Management contribute to a burgeoning financial sector in Dubai, which now boasts over 1,000 industry professionals.
