World Imports of Household Sewing Machines
In 2024, supplies from abroad of household sewing machines was finally on the rise to reach 12M units after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 25%. In value terms, Vietnam ($339M), China ($277M) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($161M) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2024, together accounting for 71% of global exports. Thailand, Germany, Poland and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 17%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +27.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices By Country
The average household sewing machine export price stood at $62 per unit in 2024, waning by -4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous year. The global export price peaked at $82 per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2024, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($202 per unit), while China ($28 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
