Loudspeaker Price in India Increases Markedly to $2.0 per Unit After Two Consecutive Months of Increase

India Loudspeaker Import Price in February 2023

In February 2023, the loudspeaker price stood at $2.0 per unit (CIF, India), surging by 13% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a notable expansion from February 2022 to February 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on February 2023 figures, loudspeaker import price increased by +13.7% against December 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 an increase of 33% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2.4 per unit in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to February 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($2.5 per unit), while the price for Hong Kong ($888 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

India Loudspeaker Import Prices by Type

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In February 2023, the product with the highest price was multiple loudspeakers (in enclosure) ($30.1 per unit), while the price for loudspeakers (not in enclosure) ($1.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by non-enclosed loudspeakers (+2.5%), while the prices for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.

India Loudspeaker Imports

In February 2023, imports of loudspeakers into India shrank modestly to 30M units, which is down by -3.2% on the previous month's figure. Overall, imports showed a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 when imports increased by 60% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 50M units. From September 2022 to February 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, loudspeaker imports rose notably to $59M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. Over the period under review, total imports indicated modest growth from February 2022 to February 2023: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on February 2023 figures, imports decreased by -0.9% against December 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when imports increased by 38% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of $95M. From September 2022 to February 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

India Loudspeaker Imports by Type

In February 2023, loudspeakers (not in enclosure) (23M units) constituted the largest type of loudspeaker supplied to India, with a 77% share of total imports. Moreover, loudspeakers (not in enclosure) exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, single loudspeakers (in enclosure) (6M units), fourfold.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of loudspeakers (not in enclosure) stood at -3.4%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: single loudspeakers (in enclosure) (+20.7% per month) and multiple loudspeakers (in enclosure) (+3.7% per month).

In value terms, the most traded types of loudspeakers in India were multiple loudspeakers (in enclosure) ($26M), loudspeakers (not in enclosure) ($25M) and single loudspeakers (in enclosure) ($7.9M).

India Loudspeaker Imports by Country

China (15M units), Vietnam (11M units) and Hong Kong (3.2M units) were the main suppliers of loudspeaker imports to India, together comprising 97% of total imports.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of -0.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, China ($38M) constituted the largest supplier of loudspeaker to India, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($12M), with a 21% share of total imports.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +4.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Vietnam (-0.3% per month) and Hong Kong (-4.1% per month).
