In 2023, shipments abroad of marble building stone decreased by -1.9% to 150K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at 219K tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The export price peaked in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($1,425 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($210 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
