Italy Circuit Breaker Export Price in January 2023

In January 2023, the circuit breaker price stood at $13.8 per unit (FOB, Italy), leveling off at the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $16,216 per thousand units. From March 2022 to January 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($21.4 per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($9.9 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV ($194 per unit), while the average price for exports of electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts ($13.2 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV (+3.5%), while the prices for the other products experienced a decline.

In January 2023, the amount of automatic circuit breakers exported from Italy totaled 4.6M units, with an increase of 13% compared with the month before. From April 2022 to January 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, circuit breaker exports rose markedly to $64M (IndexBox estimates) in January 2023. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% from January 2022 to January 2023; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when exports increased by 22% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 69M units in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to January 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

It was followed by electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV (11K units), with a 0.2% share of total exports.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts totaled +3.1%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV (-0.7% per month) and electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage of 72.5kV or more (+2.0% per month).

In value terms, electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts ($61M) remains the largest type of circuit breaker exported from Italy, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV ($2.2M), with a 3.4% share of total exports.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts totaled +2.9%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV (+2.7% per month) and electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage of 72.5kV or more (+1.4% per month).

Italy Circuit Breaker Exports by Country

France (1.2M units), Germany (676K units) and the United States (439K units) were the main destinations of circuit breaker exports from Italy, together comprising 49% of total exports. These countries were followed by Spain, Turkey, Israel, the UK, Hungary, Ireland, Egypt and Albania, which together accounted for a further 25%.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the UK (with a CAGR of +12.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for circuit breaker exported from Italy were France ($12M), the United States ($8.6M) and Germany ($7M), together comprising 43% of total exports. These countries were followed by Spain, Turkey, the UK, Ireland, Egypt, Israel, Hungary and Albania, which together accounted for a further 26%.
