Japan's Leek Imports See Minor Decline, Reaching $66M in 2023

Japan Leek Imports

In 2023, overseas purchases of leeks and other alliaceous vegetables increased by 24% to 60K tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at 70K tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, leek imports reduced to $66M (IndexBox estimates) in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 21%.
