LEAP 2025 Launches in Riyadh, Unveils $14.9 Billion in AI Investments

LEAP 2025, a premier event for global technology and innovation leaders, commenced in Riyadh on Sunday, February 9, marking a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia's digital transformation journey. Gulf Business has reported that on the first day of the conference, a groundbreaking total of $14.9 billion in investments and projects in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) were announced. These substantial investments reinforce Saudi Arabia's ambition to be at the forefront of shaping the digital future.

According to IndexBox data, these investments play a pivotal role in expanding Saudi Arabia's digital economy, which is already the largest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, fostering a thriving climate for tech startups and innovation. Announced by Abdullah Alswaha, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, during the keynote address, the initiatives aim to cultivate digital skills and support technological advancements within the country.

Minister Alswaha emphasized the support from Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, stating, "These initiatives are integral to empowering the technology sector and accelerating Saudi Arabia's transition towards an innovative, AI-driven economy. They are also aligned with the objectives of Vision 2030."

LEAP 2025, running under the theme 'Into New Worlds' until Wednesday, is organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones (SAFCSP), and Tahaluf Company—a joint venture with support from the Events Investment Fund. The event's opening day saw several high-profile investments unveiled, setting the stage for further technological innovation and collaboration.
