LinkedIn Co-Founder Launches AI Startup to Combat Cancer

Reid Hoffman, a co-founder of LinkedIn and notable venture capitalist, has unveiled a new AI-driven startup, Manas AI, which aims to accelerate the discovery of treatments for cancer. As reported by Yahoo Finance, Manas AI seeks to revolutionize the drug discovery process by enhancing speed and accuracy from identifying potential drug candidates to advancing them to clinical trials.

Focusing initially on breast cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma, the company plans to extend its research to other autoimmune diseases and rare medical conditions. "AI will have a lasting and positive impact on humanity," Hoffman emphasized, expressing his commitment to leveraging AI for medical innovation.

Backed by a seed funding round of nearly $25 million, led by General Catalyst and involving investors like Greylock, Manas AI has formed a strategic partnership with Microsoft for cloud computing resources. The startup's co-founder, Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, a prominent cancer researcher, stated, "Our mission is simple yet profound: to transform how we discover and develop life-saving medicines."

Across the tech industry, the integration of AI in drug discovery is gaining momentum. Recently, Google DeepMind's CEO Demis Hassabis announced that AI-designed drugs might enter clinical trials by the year's end, showcasing the swift advancements in this field.
