U.S. Linoleum Import Price July 2022
The average linoleum import price stood at $8 per square meter in July 2022, reducing by -8.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 an increase of 37% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $10 per square meter in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to July 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($19 per square meter), while the price for Canada ($1.4 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Linoleum Imports
In July 2022, approximately 487K square meters of linoleum were imported into the United States; shrinking by -18.1% against June 2022 figures. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from January 2022 to July 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +9.0% over the last six-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2022 figures, imports decreased by -19.1% against April 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 with an increase of 65% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 602K square meters. From May 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, linoleum imports contracted markedly to $3.9M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 when imports increased by 76% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $6.1M. From May 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Linoleum Imports by Country
Canada (221K square meters), the Netherlands (146K square meters) and the UK (85K square meters) were the main suppliers of linoleum imports to the United States, together accounting for 93% of total imports. These countries were followed by Hungary, China and Italy, which together accounted for a further 6.5%.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +50.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($1.8M), the UK ($1.6M) and Canada ($302K) constituted the largest linoleum suppliers to the United States, together accounting for 95% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Canada, with a CAGR of +41.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
