Macquarie Asset Management Pty has made a move to acquire Axiata Group Bhd's telecom infrastructure unit in a potential transaction valued at approximately $3.5 billion. According to Bloomberg, the bid is currently under evaluation by Axiata as considerations continue, although there has been no decision confirmed by the Malaysian telecom giant.

Edotco Group Sdn., the targeted unit, manages an extensive portfolio of over 55,000 telecom towers across various Asian countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the Philippines. The influx of interest in edotco coincides with the need for Innovation Network Corp. of Japan to divest its 21% stake by March 2024 as its operational mandate expires.
