Mako Mining Expands with Acquisition of Moss Gold Mine in Arizona

Mako Mining Corp. (TSXV: MKO; OTCQX: MAKOF) has announced its intention to acquire the Moss gold mine in Arizona from EG Acquisition, as reported by Mining.com. This strategic move comes after the former owner, Elevation Gold Mining, sought creditor protection in August 2024 due to financial challenges.

The acquisition cost is estimated to range between $4.9 million and $6.4 million in cash, dependent on resolving disputes related to a net smelter return royalty. Mako has further agreed to potentially pay an additional $1.5 million if the royalties are cleared, with resolution expected in the first half of 2025.

The acquisition represents a significant growth opportunity for Mako as it aims to enhance its portfolio with a producing asset in a premier jurisdiction. The Moss mine has steadily produced gold during its bankruptcy phase, ensuring continuity of operations through its beneficiation facilities. Mako plans to further optimize operations and restart mining activities post-acquisition.

According to data from IndexBox, the expansion into the Southwest United States complements Mako's existing high-grade San Albino gold mine in northern Nicaragua and its recent foray into South America featuring the Eagle Mountain gold project in Guyana, acquired in March 2024.
