Mexico Electronic Chip Import Price in April 2023
In April 2023, the electronic chip price stood at $1.3 per unit (CIF, Mexico), growing by 45% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated pronounced growth from April 2022 to April 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on April 2023 figures, electronic chip import price increased by +44.8% against March 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 67% against the previous month. The import price peaked in April 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($4.0 per unit), while the price for the United States ($209 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+12.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mexico Electronic Chip Import Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In April 2023, the product with the highest price was electronic integrated circuits; processors and controllers, whether or not combined with memories, converters, logic circuits, amplifiers, clock and timing circuits, or other circuits ($2.6 per unit), while the price for electronic integrated circuits; n.e.c. in heading no. 8542 ($464 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by electronic integrated circuits; n.e.c. in heading no. 8542 (+4.3%), while the prices for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.
Mexico Electronic Chip Imports
After two months of growth, overseas purchases of electronic chips decreased by -6.8% to 2.1B units in April 2023. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 with an increase of 62% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 4.6B units. From August 2022 to April 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, electronic chip imports soared to $2.7B (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0% from April 2022 to April 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Mexico Electronic Chip Imports by Type
Electronic integrated circuits; n.e.c. in heading no. 8542 (1.2B units), electronic integrated circuits; processors and controllers, whether or not combined with memories, converters, logic circuits, amplifiers, clock and timing circuits, or other circuits (744M units) and multichip integrated circuits: memories (79M units) were the main products of electronic chip imports to Mexico, together comprising 97% of total imports.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the biggest increases were in electronic integrated circuits; processors and controllers, whether or not combined with memories, converters, logic circuits, amplifiers, clock and timing circuits, or other circuits (with a CAGR of +1.0%), while purchases for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, electronic integrated circuits; processors and controllers, whether or not combined with memories, converters, logic circuits, amplifiers, clock and timing circuits, or other circuits ($2B) constituted the largest type of electronic chip supplied to Mexico, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by electronic integrated circuits; n.e.c. in heading no. 8542 ($553M), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by multichip integrated circuits: memories, with a 3.4% share.
Mexico Electronic Chip Imports by Country
the United States (560M units), Taiwan (Chinese) (502M units) and China (341M units) were the main suppliers of electronic chip imports to Mexico, together accounting for 68% of total imports. Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, the Philippines and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the biggest increases were in Thailand (with a CAGR of +2.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($624M), Malaysia ($604M) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($366M) appeared to be the largest electronic chip suppliers to Mexico, together comprising 60% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of +3.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
