Microsoft Introduces Copilot Chat to Streamline Business Operations

Microsoft has unveiled a new chat service, Copilot Chat, aimed at assisting businesses with on-demand AI agents for routine tasks. According to Yahoo Finance, the tech giant is leveraging a pay-as-you-go model to enhance the uptake of this innovative technology.

Copilot Chat, which is free to access, is powered by OpenAI's GPT-4 and allows users to craft AI agents using natural languages such as English and Mandarin. These agents are designed to perform tasks such as market research, creating strategy documents, and preparing for meetings. However, more advanced features like summarizing and transcribing Teams calls and creating PowerPoint presentations are available for those who opt for a $30 monthly Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.

The introduction of Copilot Chat comes as Microsoft faces increasing demands to demonstrate returns on its significant AI investments, with reports indicating that it will spend approximately $80 billion in its current fiscal year on data centers and AI infrastructure. This move follows a Gartner report from last year that questioned the adoption rate of Copilot, prompting Microsoft to intensify efforts to boost its usage.

In a bid to further monetize AI capabilities, Microsoft rolled out services in November allowing customers to develop autonomous agents with minimal human oversight. Analysts suggest that this strategy could simplify monetization pathways for tech firms, as indicated by data from the IndexBox platform on AI market trends and growth.
