Microsoft Reports Strong Profit Growth Amid AI Investments

REDMOND, Wash. — Microsoft Corp. announced a 10% increase in profits for the October-December quarter, compared to the previous year, as it continues to leverage its substantial investments in artificial intelligence technology. For more details, visit the original source.

The tech giant reported a net income of $24.1 billion, or $3.23 per share, surpassing Wall Street predictions which anticipated earnings of $3.11 per share. Revenues also exceeded expectations, reaching $69.6 billion for the quarter, a 12% rise from the prior year. Analysts, polled by FactSet Research, had estimated a revenue of $68.87 billion for the same period.

However, Microsoft's performance in the cloud computing sector, a key area of its AI strategy, did not entirely meet projections. The cloud segment experienced a 19% growth to $25.5 billion, slightly below the $25.83 billion forecasted. Despite this, the company's productivity business, which includes the Office suite, saw a 14% increase, reaching $29.4 billion. Meanwhile, personal computing, anchored by the Windows division, remained stable at $14.7 billion.
